on the attitude towards para-church organisations

Statement by the Supreme Church Council of the Pentecostal Church in Poland on its stance towards para-church organisations

In light of the new social and political situation, there is a need to set out our position on the activities of domestic and foreign para-church organisations in our country.

1. We affirm, on the basis of the Word of God, that the only institution left on this earth and appointed to proclaim the Word of God and to “make disciples” is the Church of Jesus Christ (Eph 3:10; 1 Tim 3:15; Acts 13:1–3; 22:10).

2. The Church of Jesus operates through congregations spread throughout the country, which work together within church organisations.

3. It is only within the congregation that the Lord’s purpose for the Church—to “equip his people for works of service” and “attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Eph 4:12–13)—can be fulfilled.

4. This aim is achieved through the coexistence and intergenerational cooperation of God’s children under the care of God’s called servants.

5. The congregation sends out those called by the Lord to serve, looks after them and supports their work.

6. The Congregation / Church establishes auxiliary institutions to carry out the Great Commission and oversees their operation.

7. All groups, institutions and organisations that are detached from congregations or churches lead to the alienation of individuals, which fosters spiritual distortions.

8. Whilst acknowledging the good intentions of the many interfaith organisations operating in Poland, we must counter the danger of individuals becoming corrupted through the promotion of an individualistic lifestyle and Christian service.

9. We encourage para-church organisations to join the existing organisational structures of evangelical Christianity in our country.
